Treatments Offered.

I have specialized training in various therapeutic treatments, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing techniques (EMDR). I use an integrative approach which allows me to best meet the needs of my clients.

Types of Therapy

  • Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the psychological roots of emotional suffering, not just the symptoms. Using supportive talk therapy, we will build your self-awareness and understanding of the influence of your past on your present. As you strengthen your ability to self-reflect, you will create a deeper understanding of yourself, and create choice in your life.

  • Your thoughts heavily influence your feelings and behaviors, often via unique interpretation of situations, events, and interactions. We will work to understand how your beliefs, emotions and behaviors interact and decrease inappropriate or negative thought patterns and behaviors that are self-destructive. With this treatment I will help you strengthen your positive coping skills and may assign homework.

  • DBT balances empathy and warm acceptance (validation) with a focus on changing problem behavior (problem-solving). DBT aims to help change the behavioral, emotional, and thinking patterns associated with problems in living, while promoting the development of and reliance on inner wisdom (wise mind). We will focus on acquiring skills to better help you handle difficult emotions and build mindfulness through meditative practice and other relaxation techniques.

  • We often get caught up in our lives, in our work, in our daily struggles that weeks can go by without us noticing anything outside the tasks at hand. This is especially true as a New Yorker, parent, student, or any combination thereof. Practicing meditation can help build self-acceptance, self-compassion, and self-awareness. Together, we will help you become aware of your thoughts and feelings through the observation of bodily sensations, which will lead to greater relaxation, insight, acceptance and balance.

  • EMDR is a transformational journey that treats the whole person, promoting developmental growth and change. Like many psychodynamic therapies, EMDR is based on the idea that past experiences underlie present difficulties. We will specifically target negative patterns of responding that are troublesome. I will help you reprocess these negative experiences and equip you with more adaptive experiences that will help you better integrate these memories in your life.
